Monkey Town in Rümlang, Switzerland, faced tough competition in a packed entertainment complex. To stand out, they needed more than just another play space—they needed something extraordinary.
This case study explores how we designed a multi-level play experience that maximized space, excitement, and demand. The result? A venue so popular it regularly sells out.
Monkey Town is a FEC, based in Rümlang, Switzerland. Offering fun for the whole family, it’s the perfect place for the kids to blow off steam, while the parents enjoy respite and coffee!
Housed in a shopping and entertainment complex, Monkey Town are competing against plenty of other FEC operators – escape rooms, trampoline centres; you name it, they’ve got one.
As a result, we knew that we absolutely had to nail this project – the more we could put into the design, and the better we were at executing it, the higher our chances of allowing Monkey Town not just to survive in a sea of competition, but to thrive.
We got busy, designing something epic – a baby area, several rugged product zones, and a large multi-level play area sprawl, as well as a party area which regularly sells out.
The result is something for everyone, and because they’ve been able to build UP, they can pack way more in that the competing businesses.
Since Monkey Town was developed, it’s the only FEC in the complex to regularly sell out.
If it’s possible, they’re almost TOO in demand – unless you pre-book, there’s a good chance you’ll get turned away.
Such is the power of soft play, planned and executed correctly, and such is the power of building up.
