Another Hit for Leisure Chain GLL at Swiss Cottage

The key to ensuring your growth year to year is heavily dictated by how many people you can bring into the space ( or bring back ), and one of our clients, GLL, has focused hard on bringing new or updating their facilities over the last few years to ensure that growth.

Swiss Cottage in London has one of the most open and well-lit entrances to a leisure centre we have ever seen. Around the reception is a cafe and lots of light, which would bring even more people in through the doors.

Welcoming guests into the space now, there is a multi-levelled soft play area that is so perfectly lit and incredibly vibrant, it even shines on the most overcast day.

Featuring everything that everyone loves from Soft play over two areas ( one for the older kids and one for the babies and toddlers ). Now Mum and Dad have a reason to enjoy their coffee with friends, whilst the little ones go off and play for an hour or two.

Beekse Bergen, het grootste safaripark in de Benelux, had een manier nodig om bezoekers te blijven aantrekken tijdens de koudere maanden. Onze oplossing? Een levendig indoor softplay-gebied met een piratenthema, ontworpen voor alle leeftijden, dat eindeloos speelplezier biedt ongeacht het weer.

Ontdek hoe deze spannende toevoeging een seizoensfavoriet heeft getransformeerd tot een bestemming voor het hele jaar door!

De klant

Beekse Bergen is een safaripark in Nederland en het grootste in zijn soort in de gehele Benelux.

Met safari’s per bus, boot en auto, evenals diverse wandelroutes waarbij je de dieren van een veilige afstand kunt bewonderen, is Beekse Bergen al lange tijd een buitengewoon populaire attractie. Met een safarihotel, een resort en een meerresort bieden ze hun gasten volop mogelijkheden om een geweldige tijd te beleven.

Maar, zoals elk goed recreatiebedrijf, blijft het team zoeken naar manieren om te verbeteren – en daar komen wij in beeld.

De Uitdaging

Het safaribedrijf van Beekse Bergen is begrijpelijkerwijs behoorlijk seizoensgebonden. Tussen april en september is het praktisch de populairste attractie in de regio. Maar in de koudere wintermaanden is het veel uitdagender om klanten aan te trekken.

Het team van Beekse Bergen kwam bij ons met dezelfde uitdaging die we van veel van onze klanten horen: “Wat kunnen we creëren dat ons helpt om van strikt seizoensgebonden naar aantrekkelijk het hele jaar door te gaan?”

Wat we hebben gedaan

Ons doel was om een oplossing te ontwerpen die bezoekers aantrekt, ongeacht het seizoen. We creëerden een levendig indoor softplay-gebied met een piratenthema, perfect voor gezinnen en avonturiers van alle leeftijden. Deze nieuwe toevoeging biedt een plek waar kinderen kunnen spelen en volwassenen kunnen ontspannen, ongeacht het weer buiten.

Dit speelt niet alleen in op de behoefte van winterbezoekers, maar zorgt ook voor een compleet nieuwe dimensie aan het park die het hele jaar door relevant blijft.

Het Resultaat

De populairste attractie in de regio heeft nu een extra troef in handen om nieuwe klanten aan te trekken en bestaande klanten een reden te geven om terug te komen – of de zon nu schijnt voor een safari of niet.

We’ve had a really fantastic year here at The Play Company.

We’ve worked on plenty of retrofits, new builds and maintenance jobs that have covered the world, it’s all been really hard work.

So to say “Thank You” to the team, we merged our End of Year Communications Event with our Festive Party, but what did we get upto?

We started the day with a presentation from the CEO, Elliott Myatt. Whom spoke about our good points ( and bad ) over 2024, looking at working on internal improvements for a more efficient and fun 2025.

Between the presentation, the team were served with multiple fun activities to get involved and interact with wider members of the team.

  • We got all managers to be the ‘Best Snowman’, wrapping them up in toilet roll.
  • We did a bingo where people had to find someone different to each question on the sheet.
  • And we rounded it off with a BIG quiz.

Now, what happened next? it was only Lunchtime!

Some went to the spa, some went to the gym, but most got themselves involved with conversations over a beer. Because knowing how our Soft Play colleagues work, and how we can all work together, better is the most important.

In the evening, we were invited to a three course meal, casino games, a live band and a DJ.

With lots of mixing, dancing and conversations from the team, we really learned what they want to get involved with and knowing they had a good time ( and possibly a big hangover ) we want to thank them all for 2024.

2025 is looking to be a big year for us as indoor soft play providers, and we hope that events like these bring the team together so that we can all work better, together in the future.

What a night to remember! The Play Company International team swapped workwear for black tie as we attended The Nottys, a prestigious awards evening celebrating the very best in the industry. And guess what? We didn’t just attend—we walked away as winners!

The night was a whirlwind of excitement, starting with our team ( whom you can learn about here ) gathering together in our finest attire. It’s not every day we get to trade blueprints and brainstorming sessions for a red carpet and champagne flutes, but we embraced it in style.

As the awards were announced, we cheered and applauded the incredible achievements of other businesses—though let’s be honest, our table had a slight feeling of suspense. When Play Company International’s name was called, the room filled with our cheers (and maybe a little squeal from Claire and Eviee). Elliott took to the stage to accept the award on behalf of the entire team, delivering a heartfelt speech that reminded everyone why we do what we do: creating playful, innovative spaces that bring joy and excitement to communities around the world.

The rest of the evening was spent celebrating—networking with other industry leaders, reminiscing about some of our favorite projects, and making the most of the photo booth.

But let’s not forget what this award represents. It’s not just a shiny trophy to display in the office (although it does look very good on the shelf). It’s a recognition of the hard work, dedication, and creativity that our team puts into every single project. It’s a testament to the incredible clients and partners who trust us to bring their visions to life. And it’s a reminder that, as a team, we can achieve great things when we dream big and play even bigger.

A massive thank you to The Nottys for hosting such a fantastic event and for recognizing the work we’re so passionate about. And to our amazing team at Play Company International—this win is for all of us

Simon Ward Joins The Play Company

As our business has grown and we have taken on more clients, sites and projects, so has our team.

We began as a small group of 8 people maintaining loved and well used play frames and play spaces however took the decision at 40 members of staff to introduce a new Soft Play Sales Manager covering the UK.

Introducing Simon Ward!

Simon brings with him a wealth of experience, knowledge and industry expertise, having the time and energy that invites fun into our team. Having previously worked for another supplier we know he is perfect for our ever growing family.

Simon is not only here to service our growing client base across the UK but he’s also on hand to supply fun, innovative and safe solutions.

He is already bringing his fresh ideas to life with our existing team.
