Indoor play is all well and good, helping to generate revenue and dwell-time on those rainy days, but what Dartmoor Zoo understand is the importance of having all your bases covered.
Outdoor play allows you to be relevant all year round, even when the sun is high in the sky.
Dartmoor Zoological Park is a 30-acre zoo in south-west Dartmoor, and with lions and lynxes along with cheetahs and chameleons, it draws in a huge number of visitors each and every year.
The team at the Zoo wanted some further entertainment to keep children busy during a full day out at the Zoo, and following the small indoor softplay we built for them last year, they were keen to create something external that could be used when the weather was being kinder.
We got to work, designing an outdoor play area that would blend into the zoo environment, limiting bright colours to create a really natural feel, as well as using rubber matting which will allow grass to grow over it to ensure safety without compromising the natural look.
We designed and manufactured the whole thing from 100% recycled plastic, showcasing our sustainability, and created a huge range of different pieces of equipment, including balance beams, rope walks, cargo crawls, balance weaves, and wobble bridges.
In addition, we constructed a play tower that features monkey bars, a climbing wall, a play panel and a slide – plenty to keep the kids going while the adults catch their breath!
Dartmoor Zoo now have a fantastic outdoor play area that’s suitable for all ages, and will keep guests of every size occupied during a fantastic day at the Zoo!
